A 2-day action-packed practical workshop, Laughter Yoga shows you how to help others stress less, build resilience, create connections.

About this event

Laughter Yoga helps people stress less, build resilience, create connections, take life more lightly and find joy in the everyday.

Is that something your neighbourhood — your community — needs more of?

In this 2-day workshop, emphasis is on the practical learning of laughter yoga exercises and facilitation of a laughter yoga session in a general community setting as well as tips for effective adaptation for participants with special needs (e.g. frail aged or school children).

Devised by an Indian physician (who in turn trained the trainer of this workshop), Laughter Yoga is an exercise regimen combining intentional laughter and deep breathing. It's light-cardio — adaptable for all abilities and ages. It's playful. Its benefits are evidence-based. Read about some of the physical, mental and social benefits of Laughter Yoga here. Laughter Yoga complements the Wheel of Wellbeing.

What you'll learn

You also will learn:

  • the physical, mental and emotional benefits of laughter
  • how to laugh without humour and how to get others to do so too
  • the history of Laughter Yoga
  • how to grow joyfulness in yourself through the practice of laughter (even when you are on your own).

You will be practising and demonstrating your ability to 'do' and present Laughter Yoga over the 2 days. Be warned! While Laughter Yoga can be adapted for all abilities, the training of laughter leaders is physical.

On successful completion of this course, you will be encouraged to run laughter yoga sessions in community-based social laughter clubs or as an employee providing an activity in a workplace, aged care centre or school.
