Event description

Description

“Love is what keeps people strong – love, sex and gratification. Through sex, we beat death. Through sex, we can exist.”

from Beirut, I Love You

by Zena El Khalil

In Outrageous Library, the first Late Night Library series of 2018, readers, writers and literary bon vivants will be transported into the erotic character of different cities around the world, with some help from the community.

The passionate city of Beirut and its complex narratives intersecting food, love, war and sex are celebrated in a night of music and words at Newtown Library. Hear the work of Lebanese writers Gibran Khalil Gibran, Zena El Khalil and from Australian voices from Sweatshop, the Western Sydney Literacy Movement. Featuring Michael Mohammed Ahmad (The Lebs), Sheree Joseph and Omar Sakr (These Wild Houses), and hip hop artist, actor and poet Matuse.

Check out the next event in this series, Outrageous Library: Sex in the Emerald City

Produced by the City of Sydney, presented in collaboration with Jenevieve Chang.
