Late Night Library: Library Love Songs with Maxine Kauter
“A library is a place where you can lose your innocence without losing your virginity.”- Germaine Greer
Self-confessed museophiliac (not a real word), book lover and musician, Maxine Kauter, will take you on a journey through the history of public libraries through the eyes of those who love them. This show will explore stories of library love from famous bibliophiles, writers, scientists, teachers and artists who maintain a deep fascination, love and reverence for public collections of books. Maxine will recount stories from Germaine Greer, Stephen Fry and others alongside acoustic renditions of love songs tolibraries from artists as diverse as Nick Cave, John Mayer and Belle and Sebastian.
If you love libraries, come and let Library Love Songs make you feel cool and smug about it. You will be entertained, you will be educated and you may even sing along with some of those who, like you, are wrapped up in books.
