Late Night Harlem Supper Club

Stemming from a need to provide hospo workers with a decent place to relax, eat great food and drink fabulous cocktails, the Late Night Harlem Supper Club is born. Though Melbourne is fast becoming a 24 hour city, hospitality workers, foodie night owls, insomniacs and shift workers have struggled to find a regular haunt that stays open into the wee hours. Enter Nieuw Amsterdam.
The second Late Night Harlem Supper Club is kicking off with a bang on 26 March 2017 at 1.30am (Saturday night/Sunday morning), uptown Nieuw Amsterdam. Each Supper Club event will see a guest Chef take-over the kitchen and we're thrilled to have the amazing Kay-lene Tan (head pastry chef at Tonka) and Ved Navghare (ex head chef at Tonka) leading our March event. Off the heals from the sold out Dalchini pop- up at Persillade Chef Ved & Kay-lene are set to indulge your senses with indian influenced cuisine.
Growing up in India amongst the amazing spices and flavors, Ved fell in love with food from a young age. Watching and learning from his mother, he knew he had found his calling - to work with food and become the best chef he could be! Ved pursued his dream relentlessly and developed his skills internationally, finding his way into some of Melbourne’s top restaurants including a spell at one-hatted restaurant Coda before taking on the Head Chef role at Tonka. Now, with several award nominations such as Good Food Guide’s Young Chef of the Year 2017 under his belt, he can’t wait to delight customers with an experience to remember at Dalchini!
Melbourne-born, and Singapore-rasied - This unique combination has fueled the inspiration for Pastry Chef Kay-Lene Tan’s dessert creations. Growing up in a Peranakan household, she was always surrounded by great food. She started her culinary journey in Singapore, working for some of the world’s best chefs such as Chef Joel Robuchon, and Chef Andres Lara. She is currently the Head Pastry Chef of Tonka. She was also the first runner-up in the San Pellegrino Young Chef of the Year Pacific 2015, and was nominated for the Gault&MIllau Pastry Chef of the Year 2016 award. With Dalchini, Chef Kay-Lene has created desserts that will be reminiscent of her time spent roaming the vibrant streets of Little India in Singapore with her family.
Tickets sold out for the last event, and include three courses and an arrival cocktail for $70 (inc. GST + booking fee), so don't delay - book today.
