Stemming from a need to provide hospo workers with a decent place to relax, eat great food and drink fabulous cocktails, the Late Night Harlem Supper Club is born. Though Melbourne is fast becoming a 24 hour city, hospitality workers, foodie night owls, insomniacs and shift workers have struggled to find a regular haunt that stays open into the wee hours. Enter Nieuw Amsterdam.
The inaugural Late Night Harlem Supper Club kicks off with a bang on 15 October at 1.30am, Uptown Nieuw Amsterdam, with its second event already in the making. Each Supper Club event will see a guest Chef take-over the kitchen commencing with the brilliant Florent 'Flo' Gerardin, Head Chef of Oter. Flo has been described as a "chef on fire", with a strong vision, fire in his belly and cuisine in his heart. He has cooked alongside star chefs and throughout award-winning venues, including Vue de Monde, Silo and Pei Modern to name a few. Flo was last year nominated for 'Best Chef of the Year' by The Age Good Food Guide and this year opened his own restaurant in Oter, which has been nominated for Best New Restaurant.
For the lucky peeps attending our first Supper Club, Flo has created a three course menu that will surprise and 'wow' you. These dishes will be matched with Campari cocktails created by Sean McGuire, Bar Manager Nieuw Amsterdam. Tickets are selling fast for an opening special of $60, and include three courses matched to cocktails, so don't delay - book today.
