Description

The Soil Biology Conference with Nicole Masters of Integrity Soils is a Western Australian event focusing on the importance of good soil biology. More than 100 leaders in the growing and science fields are expected to attend the conference. Target attendees include professionals and operators from turf management, organic fruit and vegetable growers, viticulturalists, broadacre crop growers, pasture crop growers and garden and landscape management. Experts in the rehabilitation and revegetation fields are also encouraged to take advantage of the information that will be provided at the conference.

The full program is in the final stages of being developed and will be available here shortly. On the agenda is a field session looking at the amelioration of soil issues affecting turf performance at the Royal Perth Golf Club.

Nicole Masters, aka The Dirt Diva, is a world reknown scientist and practitioner in the soil biology field. Nicole is sought after by many growing industries for her insight into what is required within soil biology to provide the best conditions for the production of high yielding and healthy plants. Nicole is inspired in how to bring measurement and scientific understandings together and balance them with intuitive, anecdotal and practical real-world experiences. She graduated in 1999 with a BSc in Ecology, with a focus on soil science and plant physiology and has since received qualifications in Adult Education and postgraduate studies in Ag extension and organisational learning. Nicole is currently studying at the University of Auckland to complete a Masterate in Ag Extension.

Nicole founded Tigercast Worms in 2002 … which over time evolved into Integrity Soils Ltd. She was a finalist in the Rural Business Woman of the Year awards New Zealand’s 2012 and has a U.S. work visa for “An Alien of Extraordinary Ability”!

Dr Sarah Collins: Her PhD from Murdoch University investigated long term survival of Jarrah dieback (Phytophthora cinnamomi) in forest and rehabilitated mining areas. Sarah has over 10 years’ experience in horticultural and broadacre issues associated with plant parasitic nematodes. Sarah's key areas of expertise are grains research, irrigated agriculture research, horticulture, root lesion nematode, crop rotation, plant parasitic nematode, wheat, barley, lupins, pasture, extension, root knot nematode, potato cyst nematode, area freedom, sting nematode.
