Event description
This webinar will walk you through the basics of economics and tell you what to expect from the economy over the next 12 months.

About this event

Economics is not about how to get rich, it's not the study of the stock market (and not about men in suits). Simply put economics is about people and choices, supply and demand.

Here at LFC, we feel every money-savvy lady should know the basics of economics so you can make the best decisions about your own finances and understand how the economy runs. We are thrilled that Cherelle Murphy will be walking (actually more like jogging) us through the basics of economics and what we can expect from the Australian economy over the next 12 months.

This will not be some boring lecture but a practical look at how the economy around us works and the impact of COVID.

And of course, you will get the opportunity to ask your questions at the end!

Cherelle Murphy, Chief Economist.

Cherelle is acting Chief Economist at Austrade. In this role Cherelle leads a team of economists and data analysts and engineers to guide government policy in the trade, foreign investment and tourism sphere. Cherelle publishes regularly and presents to domestic and international clients and stakeholders.

Prior to joining Austrade, Cherelle was a member of ANZ’s Research team where she analysed the Australian economy and provided forecasts and regular insights on topics of interest to ANZ’s clients. Cherelle’s specialities were fiscal policy and policy issues affecting the domestic outlook. Cherelle also worked in ANZ corporate communications, holding the position of Senior Manager of Media Relations for two years. She also worked as a journalist for the Australian Financial Review for five years, including as Economics Correspondent for the paper in the Federal Parliamentary Press Gallery.

Cherelle began her career as an economic research analyst at the Reserve Bank of Australia. She holds a Commerce degree (Hons) from Curtin University and a Master of Population Studies from Australian National University. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Cherelle is formerly a director of an ACT Government Board and is on an advisory board for an Australian University.
