LA BOMBA'S 22 YEAR HISTORY:
LA BOMBA (translates to da bomb from Spanish) was started in 1999 as a Latin radio show on Radio Adelaide by Chilean/ Australian radio producer: Natalie Stansfield after an inspiring and life changing trip to Cuba, Mexico and Central America.
1999 was the era of the world-wide LATINO BOOM - Santana had won 9 Grammys, JLO, Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, Marc Anthony, Christina Aguilera, and Ricky Martin were topping the commercial music charts... the Buena Vista Social Club film had successfully hit arthouse cinemas and sold millions of CDs worldwide. Adelaide was so ready for its love affair with Latino music, dance, and culture...
In the early days (prior to social media) listeners would phone up LA BOMBA on Radio Adelaide weekly asking where they could go and see a Latin band or take a salsa lesson locally.
So due to public demand... La Bomba kicked off its first ever event: LATIN ALL STAR'S FESTIVAL at The Gov on Tuesday 28 December 1999 and it was a MASSIVE success, packing out the venue with over 700 Latin music lovers. One month later La Bomba started up hugely popular Salsa, Merengue and Samba dance classes on Monday nights at The Gov and never looked back.
Over the years La Bomba has proudly hosted and entertained famous celebrities and artists as our special guests at our Latin nights including:
SIA - ORIANTHI - HUGO WEAVING - BLACK EYED PEAS - ALOE BLACC - MARY: CROWN PRINCESS OF DENMARK - AMBER PETTY - ROMARIO - JOHN LEGEND - BEYONCES BAND & DANCERS and more...
