Module 3 explores practical ways teachers can adapt their teaching to address the literacy needs of Koorie English speakers.

About this event

Koorie English is a recognised and valued dialect of English that is spoken by members of Koorie communities across Victoria. It embodies cultural values, concepts and mores of Aboriginal culture, some traditional words, and non-verbal communication.

Module 3 explores practical ways teachers can adapt their teaching to address the literacy needs of Koorie English speakers. The Learning Intention and Success Criteria for Module 3 are as follows.

Learning Intention:

• To understand how to support and upskill Koorie English speakers with code-switching in the classroom.

Success Criteria:

• Outline potential literacy considerations for Koorie English speakers.

• Identify a range of literacy strategies to support Koorie English speakers.

• Evaluate opportunities to improve teaching practice to cater for Koorie English speakers.
