Event description

Description

Discovery is sharing the science and technology knowledge of the Dja Dja Wurrung people with some special pre-school events in November.
Using the “Curious Kids” format, a series of workshops will be held with celebrated weaver Aunty Marilyne Nicholls and Echuca based artist Damien Saunders.
Aunty Marilyne will share the lessons from a creation story with children aged 5 and under and then introduce weaving in a hands on workshop straight afterwards.
Damien will also share some Dja Dja Wurrung culture, then help children to make ochre paint.
“Discovery Science & Technology Centre is proud to recognise that the Dja Dja Wurrung Clans are not just the custodians of the land we live on, but are also the first scientists, technologists and astronomers,” General Manager Jonathan Ridnell says.
“This is an opportunity to learn some local culture and celebrate that the Dja Dja Wurrung have been living a culture that is rich in art and science for thousands of generations.”
Children will require adult supervision to attend.

These events are made possible by the City of Greater Bendigo Community Grants program.
Schedule:
23rd & 24th November at 1000 and 1100: Damien Saunders
28th & 29th November at 1000 and 1100: Aunty Marilyne Nicholls
Bookings are essential for child participants, adult supervisors do not need to book.
