Event Details

Kokedama is an ancient Japanese technique, (meaning moss ball), where a plant’s root system is bound with moss and string, transforming it into a mini art form.

You’ll get to immerse yourself by getting your hands dirty making one or two kokedamas in this guided workshop with Hilary Woodfine of Tiny Paradise. She’ll take you step-by-step in how to make your own kokedama and how to incorporate the Japanese Wabi-Sabi principle of embracing imperfection, impermanence and awareness of natural beauty into your everyday life.

  • Step-by-step instruction on how to make a hanging kokedama and (importantly!), how to keep it alive
  • A brief history of the origins of the kokedama.
  • Explore the principles of Wabi-Sabi and how to apply them to daily life
  • Discover how to enjoy the simple pleasure of getting your hands dirty
  • Bring home kokedamas of your own making, and learn how to make many more for your friends and family

  • All the materials to make the kokedamas
  • Care instructions to ensure your kokedamas thrive in their new home

Anyone who love plants, wants to get their hands dirty and get creative
