Overview

As a volunteer, understanding your rights and responsibilities is key to a fulfilling experience.

Each month we will explore volunteering concepts and issues through the lens of the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement and the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development (IVY 2026).

This session will empower you with knowledge about fair treatment, clear expectations, and avenues for support along with your responsibilities, such as adhering to policies and respecting confidentiality.

This session aims to foster a transparent and respectful volunteering culture, ensuring that your contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals are made in an environment where you feel valued, respected, and protected, reducing any potential inequalities in your volunteer journey.

Outcomes

  • Gain an understanding of your rights and responsibiliteies as a volunteer and the rights and responsibilities of the organisation.
  • Explore avenues for support and feedback and how to contribute to a respectful and mutually beneficial volunteering environment.
