Know Your Self: A journey towards greater self-awareness
Event Information
About this Event
Who am I? What do I want? Why do I think this way? Why do I feel this way? Why do I always attract these types of people? “Know yourself” was the ancient Greek invitation to reflect on who you are. Its inscription in the Temple of Apollo at Delphi was as relevant then as it is in our world today, if not more so.
In our modern world, we get that how we think, feel, and behave can have a direct impact on the trajectory of our lives. We also live in one of the most abundant eras of humanity, so the ability to shape and create our lives has never been higher. But, do we know where to start? Not always.
Studies have also revealed that while we think we know and understand ourselves, we often don’t see ourselves as others do. This can then lead to misunderstandings, tension, confusion, and anxiety.
This workshop is the first in our Love Your Life series where we take an introductory exploration of our thoughts, patterns and behaviours, of how we can develop greater awareness of what is helpful and unhelpful for who we want to be, and of how we can take ownership and power over the lives we lead.
We will cover:
The power of mindfulness to change how we live
Exploring the thinking mind, and our default reactions
Understanding our patterns and behaviours, including self-limiting beliefs and other behaviours that hold us back
Looking at the ego and its influence over our lives
Your facilitator:
Dani Hanrahan is a Masters-trained psychotherapist and counsellor who co-created Slowwell in 2020. Following an early career in journalism, Dani felt called towards understanding herself in a deeper way, so at 29, she decided to swap her comfortable job for full-time study. A year into study, she joined the team at progressive psychology practice, The Indigo Project, where she facilitated the Get Your Sh*t Together course, the Learn to Meditate course, as well as several workshops for corporations on mindfulness, meditation, stress management, boundaries and creativity. She brings her experience in this area, and her love for helping others, to what she does at Slowwell.
Wednesday 3 February 2021 – 6-8pm at Slowwell, 233 Ocean View Road, Ettalong Beach NSW.
You will receive a workbook that you can take home and continue to develop over the year.
Limited capacity of 5 participants.
