Knitting and Crochet: Good Omen Goodeze Community Threads Project
Event Information
About this Event
The health benefits of knitting and crocheting are acknowledged in medical literature. These activities have been shown to reduce stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure and promote health and wellbeing.
Good Omen Goodeze Inc, supported by the ACT Health Directorate, is organising this project for the Canberra Community and ANU Thrive is pleased to support them. GOG will supply 20 “Starter Packs” for students wanting to learn knitting and crocheting during the current Covid-19 pandemic. Each Starter Pack includes knitting needles, crochet hooks, yarn, and patterns. You will be given the starter packs and they will be your to keep.
We will meet over three weeks at the Street Theatre and will crochet and knit beautiful patterns which will then be donated to the ICU department at the Canberra hospital. Light refreshments and tea will be provided.
If you would like to take part in this project, we would like to ask you to answer a survey at the beginning and then again after three months. This is so that we can see if taking part in our project has benefited you in any way to assist us with future initiatives and with reporting our findings to ACT Health. Your individual responses will be anonymised and kept confidential. However, you can receive a copy of the results of the study in the future if you would like.
