About this Event

This interactive workshop is designed to assist practice owners and managers from a broad range of health care practices including GP, medical specialist, allied health and dental, run a successful and compliant practice. This workshop will provide practical advice and resources, with a range of topics discussed using a case study and scenario approach.

This workshop is a great opportunity to spend some time with other practice owners and managers to share ideas, knowledge and experiences. Bring your questions to discuss and have them resolved by a panel of subject matter experts.

Overview

Running a successful health care practice means adapting to changes in compliance and regulations, as well as keeping on top of technologies, systems and processes. Strategic leadership is also critical to improving the practice and keeping the team focused. Topics to be discussed include:

  • Documentation and reporting, including responsibilities in relation to new rules on mandatory reporting of a practitioner.
  • Common professional and ethical dilemmas faced in running and managing a health care practice, including:
    • dealing with poor behaviour from patients and employees
    • Inclusion and diversity within the workplace
    • identifying and managing risks
    • observing and chaperoning of patients.

Learning Outcomes

By attending this workshop, participants will have increased their confidence, knowledge and skills to enable them to:

  • Implement systems and processes that support document management, compliance and risk management.
  • Develop risk management strategies that support staff and promote the delivery of quality health care services.
  • Identify and manage poor behaviour from both patients and employees.
  • Apply situational leadership to improve practice operations and keep the practice team focused.
  • Create and maintain a supportive, open and inclusive practice culture.

Cost

Registration is $100 and includes 3 hours of professionally delivered educational content, lunch, and the opportunity to have your questions resolved by a panel of subject matter experts.

Presenters

Angela Mason-Lynch is a Risk Advisor for Avant. She has extensive experience managing practices of various disciplines and sizes.

Rockey Ruperto is the Legal and Policy Officer for Avant. He advocates for changes to health related legislation, regulation and policy with the aim of making a positive difference to the practise of medicine.

Emma Gibson is Risk Improvement Underwriting Manager at Avant. She provides advice and guidance on a range of current topical issues affecting doctors and practices throughout Australia.
