Event description
Calling all community leaders of Geelong! Come along to an information night to find out how children can you help to help your community.

About this Event

What role could local grade 6 students play in helping you reach your community action goals?

This is your chance to work alongside our newest generation of local volunteers and philanthropists to help you get what you need.

Kids as Catalyst is Victoria's leading creative leadership and social change program, empowering upper primary students to build resilience, improve community connections and make a real contribution to communities.

Community groups that have previously participated in the program have benefited from community gardens, extra snuffle mats, extra batteries for wildlife cameras and more.

We know from experience that the program also has a deep and lasting impact on students - even described as an 'aha!' moment by one local teacher. But it can't work without a large pool of potential community partners to work with students on their change projects.

The program will be delivered across four Northern Bay College campuses in Geelong in terms two and three this year and we are reaching out to you as a community leader - to attend an information evening to learn about why and how to get involved.

The program has a highly successful track record and is linked to the Victorian Curriculum. It was delivered in two Northern Bay College campuses in 2018, equipping students with the skills to identify and solve real problems facing the Geelong community through creative and collaborative projects.

Kids Thrive staff will provide an overview of the Kids as Catalyst program, previous community partners will speak about their involvement and Northern Bay College leaders, teaching staff and student mentors will share their experiences of the program.

Please feel free to share this information with those in your networks you feel may be interested in learning more.

Admission is free and BBQ and refreshments will be provided.
