Gocco Screen Printing with Jeremy Staples (Kids)

Join artist Jeremy Staples and create your own ‘Do-It-Yourself’ Gocco prints. Originating in Japan, Gocco printing is a mix of traditional screen printing and press printing, but without the mess!

Come print your own images on the spot, an invitation, postcard or artist original of your very own!

What you'll get:

  • Learn how to print and produce your very own Gocco Print!

  • A fantastic introduction to this great DIY printing method.

  • Exposed print mesh that you can use at home

Materials: All materials supplied and covered by the workshop fee.

Participants must be aged between 12-17 years. Parents/guardians must stay on-site at QSA for the duration of the workshop.

This workshop is part of the program for the exhibition Sunshine Rebooted: the final Bjelke-Petersen Cabinet Minutes, on display at Queensland State Archives from 25 May - 16 November 2018.

About Jeremy:

Jeremy Staples’ strives towards creating spaces for community engagement that provides a platform for people to be heard via grassroots projects. Platforms range from workshops, festivals that range from the Zine and Independent Zine Symposium to the Karragarra Sea Market Festival, community development opportunities and most recently, touring the Copier Jam! exhibition. An exhibition showcasing zine and indie comic creators throughout Australia. Known for his 'Do It Yourself projects', DIY isn’t a philosophy that operates on the weekends for Staples. From building an off-grid container home on Russell island, to cycling to Sydney from Brisbane and presenting a talk at the Vivid Ideas festival, Staples lives and breathes DIY or, as he prefers, DIT – Do It Together.
