About this Event

These school holidays the Living Classroom is once again visiting Lulu's Perch, a beautiful farm and permaculture garden in Pinbarren and we invite kids to join us outdoors and in the garden for a fun and interactive school holiday workshop!

Our Compost and Seed Bombs Workshop will take kids on a hunt through a delightful permaculture garden to see how a range of garden helpers such as goats, chickens and worms help turn food scraps into compost soil. Kids will delighting in getting their hands dirty, learning songs and playing gardens games to help them learn about building a healthy and sustainable garden.

Once we know how to make compost, we will mix some with clay to roll our very own seed bombs, set to dry in the sun while we enjoy our morning tea, we will send them home with you to explode with life once they land in your garden bed. The seed bombs will be a ball of nutrient packed compost teaming with life and food for the garden. Inside we will place the little seeds of a plant just waiting to come to life and grow to feed you and your family.

And that't not all, keeping with the theme of seeds in this workshop we will be creating delicious nutritious bliss balls packed with healthy seeds to enjoy. Your kids will love how easy it is to make this fun and healthy treat.

The Living Classroom Project workshops are choc full of fun activities set to inspire children to get into the garden and grow their own food. Kids will be amazed by the knowledge and enthusiastic teachings of Aaron Mears, where he will share his knowledge of permaculture practices and traditional cultures in an easy and interactive way while we play in the garden.

Kids will love jumping straight into the wonderful world of gardening by exploring the established food gardens, discovering what’s growing, look at composting systems to feed the soil and getting up close to the mini helpers in the garden such as worms and beneficial bugs. Not to mention the cute farm animals that are waiting to say hi. Did we mention miniature goats, ducks and chickens?

But that’s not all, kids will also be inspired in the kitchen with wholefood cook Vanessa Schofield, where she will share her love of simple traditional cooking and celebrate the vitality of vibrant fresh food to create tasty recipes which we all get to share! YUM!

Please wear covered in shoes and bring a hat, water bottle and sunscreen. A piece of fruit for a shared morning tea would also be welcomed.

You can contact Aaron & Ness on hello@livingclassroom.com.au if you have any questions regarding the program.
