Week 1: Tuesday October 25 - 'The Journey'' - painting, drawing, collage
In response to the Derry Messum's exhibition 'Journeys' create a mixed media work representing a journey of your own. How will you travel? Where will you go? What will you see along the way?
Week 2: Tuesday November 1 - 'About Face' - drawing
Examine and discuss portraits by artists through the ages then practise basic portraiture drawing skills.
Week 3: Tuesday November 8 - 'Mirror, Mirror'- drawing, mono-printing
Observe portraits by Kurt Brereton in the exhibition Biographs. Continue exploring portraiture using yourself as the subject, focusing on facial expression and mood.
Week 4: Tuesday November 15 - 'Picasso Heads'- painting, relief sculpture
Picasso had some unusual ways of representing faces. Study several of his famous portraits then have fun creating a Picasso style portrait of your own with cardboard boxes and paint.
Week 5: Tuesday November 22 - 'Picasso Heads' continued.
Week 6: Tuesday November 29 - Final preparation for our exhibition in the Side Gallery!
Time to put the finishing touches on unfinished projects. Children select and name works to be included and assist in curating the exhibition.
Please note our exhibition launch happens on Friday December 2 at 5.30 - 6.30 pm in the Side Gallery on the ground floor. We are very fortunate to have this opportunity. How exciting exhibiting in a public space! The exhibition will be on display until the afternoon of Tuesday December 6.
Week 7: Tuesday December 6 - Dog, Dog, Duck.
Animal portraits - drawing with charcoal. This workshop involves a visit to the gallery exhibitions [DUHK- LING] and Real Men and Their Dogs.
