Kiddyrock Workshop at The Little Bookroom

Kiddyrock music and play workshops are about exploration, collaboration, creation and imagination!

They will focus on music and movement bringing drums, ukuleles, percussion instruments, xylophones, exploratory play boxes, dancing props and puppets with them to The Little Bookroom...

The music component is typically sung live with an acoustic instrument played by the instructor and children and their carers are invited and encouraged to play along on the musical equipment provided.

They also use original recorded music so the instructors can lead children in movement and dancing exercises incorporating Key Word Sign.

Their programs are mindfully designed to inspire. Children can work independently or collaborate with their peers. Unmissable super-fun!

The Little Bookroom

The Little Bookroom Logo

The Little Bookroom - bringing children's books to Melbourne since 1960.

The Little Bookroom opened its doors to the public on Friday the 13th October, 1960, the first bookstore in Australia to stock only children's books. It has been a Melbourne institution ever since!

The shop is named for a collection of stories by Eleanor Farjeon who wrote:

"I am proud and happy to know you've chosen the title of my book for the title of your Bookshop in the City my Father first set foot in the 1850s when he emigrated to Australia as a boy of 16. The stories he told me of his arrival in Melbourne have always made it seem to be one of 'my' cities. Thank you for giving me a home in it"

Edward Ardizzone illustrated 'The Little Bookroom' and provided us with an original ink illustration for our logo, a treasure indeed.
