Key risks and analysing performance data in Home Care (Hot Topic)
Event Information
About this event
Why is it important to identify key risks and analyse performance data?
In the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission's Aged Care Quality Bulletin #35 – November 2021, it was announced that guidance on home service delivery risks is soon to be released.
These guidance resources will assist governing bodies of home service providers to critically examine their organisation’s performance and consumer outcomes against 5 key risk areas:
- Organisational Governance
- Care planning and Assessment
- Clinical Care
- Vulnerable Consumers
- Management of Package Funds.
The Commission has stated that changes are being introduced in the way the Commission undertakes performance assessments and pre-site visit activities for home services. This will include requirements for providers to submit specific organisational and consumer information to the Commission ahead of the site visit to enable a pre-site review of the information
To meet the requirements of the Commission, it will require Home Care providers to have systems in place to collect, report and analyse data to identify risks. However, aside from these regulatory changes, it is just good practice to have strong and effective data systems in place to identify risks. Providing meaningful data to the governing body is essential. The foundation of that those data reports is a robust data management system.
Do you have control over your data or is your data controlling you? With bits and bytes being generated at exponentially increasing rates, your organisation may be overwhelmed when it comes to collecting, analysing, and interpreting data to manage risks. The key to the identification of risk is correctly interpreting the data and drawing conclusions that enable you to take corrective actions to minimise the risk of negative impacts. However, identifying risk means more than preparing for the worst; it also means taking advantage of opportunities to improve services, stay competitive and lower costs.
Overview
After this webinar, you will come away with a solid understanding of the performance data you need to identify both risks and opportunities. It will address the data you need to collect and best practice methods for collection. Using case studies and sample reports related to the 5 Key Risk Areas, these reports will be analysed to make meaning from the data.
