In this workshop, participants explore and experiment with contemporary colour strategies in a practical, informative and fun way.

About this event

This workshop allows participants to explore and experiment with key contemporary colour strategies. Practical exercises are blended with colour theory in an accessible, informative, and fun way.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants gain insight and knowledge that enables them to work with colour from an informed perspective across any area of design and the built environment plus an illustrated workbook for future reference.

All materials and a detailed workbook are included with this workshop - 3 CPD points for architects and designers.

Learning outcomes:

1) A practical exploration of contemporary, relevant colour strategies for design and the built environment;

2) An understanding of the ways in which key colour strategies can be used to achieve specific aims relevant to design problems and practical application.

3) Identify and experiment with colour nuances and specific colour strategies including the New Neutrals, Hushed Tonalities, Colour Discords, Shadow Palettes, Polychromy, Triadic & Tetradic Colour Schemes plus Seven Types of Contrasting Colour Schemes.

4) Build a resource using the workshop workbook that collates and illustrates key colour strategies for future reference.

Prerequisites – No prior knowledge or experience is necessary.

6 Formal CPD points for architects and designers. The content of this workshop is linked to the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA) National Standard of Competency for Architects (2015 edition) and addresses the unit of competency of ‘Design’ and the specific elements of ‘Pre-Design’ and ‘Conceptual Design’. Performance criteria: 2.6 Preparation and analysis of project development options in response to project brief. 3.1 Design response integrates the objectives of brief, user intent and built purpose.
