Description

Manage your property for horses with more confidence. Have you wondered why your pony keeps getting laminitis? How many horses can you run on a productive pasture? Are you worried about poisonous weeds such as flatweed?

This workshop help you to:

  • Assess pasture quality and quantity
  • Identify pasture and weed species
  • Manage pastures to maintain groundcover
  • Assess horse condition scores
  • Determine feed requirements of different horses
  • Manage feed related horse health conditions such as laminitis and stringhalt
  • Develop a worm control program
  • Manage mixed grazing with sheep and cattle
  • Get the best from your pasture
  • Choose seeding options for establishing pasture

Helena Warren is a Level 1 General Coach with Equestrian Australia. She has been coaching for 21 years and has her own training centre Cadfor Equestrian (near Goulburn) as well as coaching for various riding clubs in NSW. Helena has 40 years experience working in agriculture in the fields of nutrition, genetics and pasture management and worked with NSW DPI until 2009.

Workshop Dates - both days will be in Tarago

Day 1 - Saturday 27 July 2019 9.00am-3.30pm

Day 2 - Saturday 31 August 2019 9.00am - 3.30pm

Cost

Tickets for the two day workshop cost $54.00 for financial members of the network and $65.00 for non-members. The ticket price includes lunch and morning tea for both days.

Course delivery

The format will include theory sessions, paddock demonstrations and farm walks.

What to bring: Warm clothes and shoes suitable for being outdoors, hat, water bottle, pens and a writing pad.

Workshop spaces are limited to 21 people.

Refunds are only available up until one week prior to the first workshop day. You need to contact us to arrange a refund.
