Description

Kartagup Djinda Ngardak

Perth comes alive under the stars”

The Kartagup Djinda Ngardak program brings together students from across WA in a unique opportunity to share their stories through food.

The youth chosen for the food event will be supported in their local schools in the months leading to the events and will be brought to Perth to experience a cooking skills camp and get acclimatised to the coming events and location.

WA Chefs, hospitality and food industry organisations will be coordinated to support the students in the skills development and food preparation for this event. Chef mentors will ensure that the events are quality and successful occasions affirming Aboriginal culture and youth leadership.

This gala dinner is a celebration an intensive cooking camp for the youth, where through a mix of food-skills and social based activities, the students were able to learn more skills, build resilience and get to know each other and be inspired to seek positive future life options in education, training and employment.

Students will also have the opportunity to participate in the opening of Yagan Square opening planned for 2018.

Selected students from this program will join the international partners to participate in Indigenous forums focused on Food, Culture and Humanities for 2018.
