Event Details

"The opposite of poverty is not wealth. [...] The opposite of poverty is justice." - Bryan Stevenson

This sector event is an opportunity to creatively problem-solve through meaningful networking with other organisations working to overcome youth poverty.

With 37% of all Australians in poverty under the age of 25, YACWA is facilitating a journey-mapping afternoon for service providers. This afternoon will celebrate the amazing work each organisation does for young people experienceing poverty, and work together - across and within organisations - to understand what young people have access to.

Limited places available, so book soon to avoid disapointment.

Organiser

Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia

YACWA is the peak non-government youth organisation in Western Australia. We operate primarily as a human rights organisation that seeks to address the exclusion of young people in a rapidly changing society.

We seek to develop a Western Australian community where all young people are empowered and have their human rights maintained. A community that values young people’s skills and knowledge and engages them in decision making.

YACWA advocates for and works in partnership with young people to empower them to be actively included in public policy decision-making

YACWA advocates for and supports the workforce to ensure that their skills and capacity can be maximised to ensure positive outcomes for young people

YACWA is agile and adaptive to changing environments and circumstances, informed by the differing strengths and needs of our members

YACWA influences public policy decisions through our effective stakeholder partnerships
