Event description

Description

Come to Mt Piper Conservation Reserve at dusk to discover some of Kinglake's nocturnal native wildlife, in a guided spotlight tour. We will demonstrate some of the ways that we can monitor nocturnal animals, and the habitat they live in. It will be a guided walking activity with some nest box checking before dark.

This activity is suitable for children aged 6-12, who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 18 or over.

Please bring water, some snacks and wear closed-toed shoes and warm clothing that is appropriate for the weather conditions. Spotlights will be provided but bring a torch if you have one. This activity will be occurring at night and there are some stairs to walk up/down on the trail. There are no toilets on the walk, so please go before you come.

Meet at the car park, near the entry to the reserve. From Jeffrey's Lane, off the Broadford-Kilmore Rd, turn into Mount Piper Lane which follows the line of trees towards the reserve.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Bookings are only required for participating children. Parents and guardians accompanying children with a ticket do not need to book a ticket for themselves.

There are several other Junior Ranger activities in the Kinglake area over the holidays, including Minibeast Discovery activities at Toorourong Reservoir Park on 09/01/19 and 16/01/19.
