Event description

Description

Jump Up Occupational Therapy Parent Information Series aims to provide practical skills to help parents understand and support their children.

“Play is an episode of activity that is child chosen and viewed as play by the child. Each play episode has some or all of the following descriptive characteristics – spontaneous, non-literal, pleasurable, flexible, means-oriented, intrinsically motivated, meaningful, active and rule-governed” (Sturgess, 2007).

The benefits of play in child development are undeniable. We know that being outdoors, particularly in natural environments, can add breadth and depth to a child’s play experience. Yet many of us struggle to find time for play and/or stuggle to get our children playing.

This session will look at why play is so important along with practical strategies that you can use in your own home and neighbourhood to get kids playing again.

The Power of Play is one part of a five part parent information series offered by Jump Up OT. Discounts apply if you book for all five sessions at once. If you are interested in registering for the complete five part parent information series at the reduced rate of $200 (save $50), please email Polly at admin@jumpupot.com.au
