Description

This one-day interactive learning program for current registered JPs provides an opportunity to refresh skills and update knowledge in undertaking JP duties. Learn from and with other JPs in your area.

Participants will receive the current JP handbook as a hardcopy to support the contemporary practice of the JP role. You will have the opportunity to discuss localised issues with the Honorary Justice Office (HJO) and each other as part of the day’s program.

Key learning outcomes include:
- Hearing updates from the HJO including current projects
- Updating your knowledge in relation to Powers of Attorney with targeted resources from the Office of the Public Advocate (OPA) - Familiarisation with the JP handbook
- Refreshing understanding of the role and boundaries of being a JP
- Effectively manage conflicts of interest
- Utilisation of standardised procedure checklists for certifying and witnessing documents

A 8:45 registration for a 9am start.

Please identify any dietary or other special requirements we need to know about to ensure a great training experience.

NOTE: This training day is for current and registered JPs and BJs of Victoria only. Please contact the Honorary Justice Office if you wish to register your interest in becoming a Justice of the Peace or Bail Justice. Completing this training will NOT enable you to act as a JP in the state of Victoria as it is a Training & Development session for CURRENT JPs.
