Event description
If you have always wanted to create your own piece of Jewellery but don't quite know where to start, then wax carving/casting is for you !

About this Event

In this 2 x half day Workshop with John you will design and create your own Sterling Silver piece.

On day one (4th March 2021) you will be designing and carving your piece from a solid block of Wax, utilising hand files and electric tools using drills and burs where necessary.

The finished carved wax will then be cast in Sterling Silver by John before your next visit to complete the Workshop.

On day two (18th March 2021) students will learn the process required to clean up their cast piece, how to remove the sprue and file then emery and texture or polish it ready to wear home that day.

Wax carving is one of the most accessible forms of Jewellery making for the beginner, it is one of Johns favourite techniques to employ when making bespoke pieces as there is so much scope to what you can achieve. Very much along the sculpting lines, it offers you great flexibility and freedom to create a freeform piece without a lot (or any) experience necessary.

Your Workshop will include the following:

  • Instruction from a qualified Jeweller of 36 years experience
  • All tools and equipment necessary
  • All Sterling Silver required to create your bespoke piece
  • Morning tea and Lunch on day one
  • Morning tea on day two

Check out John's work @ www.johnmcaleer.com.au and also on social media @ JohnMcAleerJeweller

Please note:

A non-refundable deposit of $100 will be retained from the ticket purchase price in the event of participant cancellation. No refunds will be offered after ticket sales have ended.

In the unlikely event a Workshop does not run due to minimum numbers not being met, we will attempt to accommodate participants on another date.
