We welcome everyone to this unique opportunity to learn introductory Japanese Sign Language skills and develop an undertanding of the Japanese deaf community.
In this workshop you will learn:
- JSL Alphabet
- How to sign your name
- Self Introduction
- Greetings/ Key Phrases
About our Guest Speaker: Ms. Chikako Hara
Ms. Hara was born in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture in Japan. She was born deaf and has lived as a deaf person her whole life. She attended a deaf school for primary school, then transitioned to a mainstream school for her highschool years. Ms. Hara has visited Australia many times over the course of the last decade, and Brisbane has been her home for the past 5 years. Ms. Hara is exceptionally educated holding a Diploma of Auslan and Cert IV in Massage Therapy, both which she studied in Australia. Ms. Hara is fluent in JSL, Auslan, Japanese and English.
