About this Event

Jam Creative Hack Day

Saturday 19 October

NEW VENUE: Mountain Creek State High School

9am registration, start 9.30am and finish 4.30pm

What is Jam Day about?

A day for artists, creatives, educators, coders, 3D modelers, sound artists, filmmakers, marketers, designers, innovative business owners, students to experiment, ideate and create a concept / Proof of Concept in a fun, supportive and collaborative environment.

Join a team on the day, or come along with your own team. Immersive art + tech projects need a creative, collaborative approach!

We're looking for big, bold, creative stories / ideas which can be brought to life and experienced with the help of immersive technologies (AR / VR). First priority is the creative concept ... then an immersive tech ‘solution’.

Come with an idea, or work with someone else’s idea – all are welcome.

Ideally, ideas/concepts will reflect our region's Places and our People, and are suitable for presentation at an outdoor, public event somewhere on the Sunshine Coast (in a natural landscape). Other concepts are welcome too.

Teams will present their ideas / concepts at the end of the day in an informal showcase.

$5,000 funding will be presented to one of the Jam Day teams, thanks to Sunshine Coast Council - to further test, develop, work on the immersive tech side of their concept after Jam Day.

Who will attend?

Attendees from Immerse Conf.2019 (20-21 September) PLUS other artists, creatives, educators, coders, 3D modelers, sound artists, filmmakers, immersive artists, marketers, designers, innovative business owners, and creative or tech students. Anyone who is interested in exploring how their art, creative practice, products, advertising or designs can be expanded and/or experienced in Augmented or Virtual Reality.

Immerse Conf.2019 Facilitators – Helena Papageorgiou (Second Variety), Charles Henden & Craig Bowler (Visitor.Vision) will be there as mentors! Plus teaching assistants.

Be prepared to join a team on Jam Day or bring a group of like-minded creatives to work with – immersive projects need a collaborative, inter-disciplinary and creative approach.

Where?

Mountain Creek State High School (STEM Hub), Lady Musgrave Dr, Mountain Creek QLD 4557 (near Mooloolaba, Sunshine Coast)

Why?

3D and immersive art are already in-demand skillsets and the demand for 3D and immersive content is growing fast. Innovative marketers and business owners are starting to expand their advertising, customer engagement / experience using Augmented and Virtual Reality.

There are huge creative possibilities for artists and creatives to work in visual arts, screen (film/TV), live performance, sound, games and interactive entertainment, education, training and simulations, advertising and marketing, e-commerce. Creatives who develop these skills will be able to collaborate on exciting projects locally, nationally and internationally - based in the Sunshine Coast / Noosa region.

Marketers and business owners who learn how to use AR & VR in their advertising and branding (online and offline, social) will help position their business as an innovator and engage with their visitors, customers in new ways / reach new audiences.
