Kim McGuire - Let's Get Digical: Why 'digital' doesn't actually exist.
The digital and the physical: These days, one doesn't exist without the other...
With my basic appreciation of Year 10 Physics and a mildly problematic adoration of Richard Dean Anderson from Stargate SG-1, we're going to take a (rapid) look at 5 of the Universe's Dimensions and how truly different they are when designing digital and physical space - and what that means for behaviours, interactions and expectations.
We'll explore the impact of the universe on our designs, and how our designs shape human evolution...
Katja Forbes - Embodied Cognition, Sensory Design & the Future of Wearables
Katja is the founder of Perceptive Ideas, specialist in research & experience design, educator in Design Thinking and Interaction Design at University of Sydney and co-founding member of the Interaction Design Association (IxDA) Sydney.
She holds a BA Communications (broadcast journalism) a Master of Multimedia Design and a Master of science (Human Centred Systems). Katja has been working in digital media since the mid 1990’s back when everyone had blue hair and rode razor scooters around the office. Such a long tenure in the industry has afforded her with invaluable experience and perspective which she loves to share.
Most recently she’s been exploring the world of digital auras and ambient intelligence as well as less creepy topics like holistic experience design and wearable tech and cognition." A wearable does not equal strapping a screen or a sensor on a human and so lets look at it from sensory design and embodied cognition angle and see how creative we can actually be.
