Event description

Description

The Gateway to Industry Schools Program (GISP) for Manufacturing and Engineering is proud to partner with TAFE Queensland and industry legends DMG Mori, Arc Hardware Incubator and Fabrik CNC to offer this unique STEAM Teacher professional development (PD) opportunity.

Aimed at ITD & Engineering High School Teachers from an established Gateway or Non-Gateway High School, on this day you'll be immersed in the manufacturing sector where programming and use of a computer numerical control (CNC) routers and milling machines is common practice. Used for cutting various hard materials such as wood, composites, aluminium, steel, plastics and foams. CNC routers reduce waste and increase productivity, producing various items in a much shorter amount of time than using other machines.

This Teacher professional development (PD) opportunity will give you an overview of CNC machines commonly used in industry, safe work practices, basic machines found in most schools and cover some high end equipment and it’s uses. You’ll also learn about industry advancements as we enter the forth industrial revolution (industry 4.0). There will be a networking opportunity to discuss ideas, issues and concerns experienced in the class room. Engineers from industry will also visit and share their knowledge and experience.

This event can contribute to the QCT professional learning requirements. A certificate of attendance will be issued upon request. This is an outcome of the Gateway Hub for Engineering based at Kelvin Grove State college.
