Event description
Water by Design and IECA invite you to the Vital Chemical ESC facility for a training and field day for Government Officers (funded by DES)

About this Event

Healthy Land and Water, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Science (DES) and the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) invite you to join us for a half-day classroom-based training session followed by a half-day on-site field demonstration.

Kel Sanson from Strategic Environmental and Engineering Consulting (SEEC) and IECA will take you through the basics of soil erosion and the benefits of best practice erosion and sediment control (ESC) to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of how soil erosion is an environmental issue. Topics include the difference between erosion control and sediment control, implementing correct ESC techniques and methods, and ESC products.

Cost: FREE

Catering: Morning tea and lunch provided

All catering including cold water throughout the training day will be provided. A coffee voucher will be provided to all registered attendees to pick up a beverage at our local coffee shop prior to arrival at the event.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • In line with our environmental outcomes, we ask that you please bring along a refillable water bottle.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) including sun-safe workwear, hardhat and safety boots is a requirement for the practical component of the workshop.
  • Due to sun exposure during the outdoor practical training component, a sun brim and sun-safe eyewear are recommended.
  • In the event of wet weather, the workshop will go ahead (unless otherwise advised). While the majority of the event will be held undercover, we ask that you come prepared with wet weather gear.

This training session also equates to 6 hours of personal development, endorsed by the International Erosion Control Association.
