Event description
Ipswich – a city for children, young people and families

About this Event

You are invited to contribute to a shared idea of what makes Ipswich a child, youth and family friendly city!

Ipswich City Council is developing a new policy for children, young people and families and we want it to be shaped by a diversity of voices from across Ipswich.

The policy will be guided by UNICEF’s principles for a Child Friendly City and will build on the good things already in place and happening in Ipswich.

Who are these workshops for?

We invite active participation from everyone that this work will impact, including:

  • Children 5+ years (parents are very welcome to bring younger children along, but please note there are no child-minding services at these workshops)
  • Young people (participants under 16 years must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian)
  • Families in all their forms (parents, carers, grandparents, aunties, uncles, and more)
  • Educators and organisations serving children, young people and families.

We invite you to bring your curiosity, dreaming and ideas and participate in one of two workshops with others who care about the future of our community.

Workshop details

We will be holding two free workshops during National Children’s Week, including:

  • Thursday 24 October 2019, Queens Park Environmental Education Centre
  • Saturday 26 October 2019, Springfield Central Library

These workshops are free, but your advance registration is essential. This event will be catered with gluten free, nut free and vegan options available. Tea, coffee and juice will also be provided.

Workshops will be hosted and led by a Blue Card holder (Working with Children).

Important registration information

  • Workshop registrations for children/young people under 18 years must be completed by a parent/legal guardian.
  • Participating children and young people aged under 16 years must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian.
  • While young people aged over 16 years don't need supervision by a parent/legal guardian, this registration must still be completed by a parent/legal guardian. This includes completion of the required permissions and acknowledgements detailed in this workshop's Terms and Conditions.
  • Council will rely on the consents and acknowledgements through this registration process to inform its handling of personal information at the workshops.
