All University staff and students are invited to attend the Investiture Ceremony of Professor Ngiare Brown. The event is an historic milestone for James Cook University as we welcome the University's first female, and first Indigenous, Chancellor. Given the significance of the occasion, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland will be participating in the Investiture Ceremony.
The Investiture, a traditional academic ceremony held within the first year of a chancellor's tenure in which they are formally vested with the symbols and ornaments of their position, will take place at James Cook University's Bebegu Yumba campus in Townsville on Thursday, 1 June 2023, commencing at 3pm.
This event will be live-streamed to Cairns, Mackay, Mount Isa, Singapore and Thursday Island
