Event description
Do you want to learn more about whale watching and whale photography? Join this short webinar for a great introduction to both activities!

About this Event

In this Introduction to Whale Photography, I'll be covering off topics such as:

  • whale species you might see whale watching, including humpback whales, the acrobats of the ocean!
  • some of their behaviours like breaching, spyhopping, and tail slapping
  • places to go whale watching, particularly in Australia
  • gear to use - and camera vs phone (yes, they each have their place!)
  • camera settings
  • getting the shot - tips and tricks when taking photos
  • your comfort on the water
  • ...and much more!

While this webinar will be largely based off my own experiences whale watching in Australia, there will be some general elements that are handy for photographing other marine mammals (e.g. dolphins) and general wildlife photography.

I look forward to sharing some of my knowledge to help you capture stunning images of these beautiful animals!

Q: When will the event start?

A: The event is being held:

  • Date: Sunday 4 October 2020
  • Time: 10 am AUEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) - not DST!

If you're unsure what time that will be in your timezone, please use a timezone converter and select 'Brisbane' as the city/timezone.

Q: How long will the event last?

A: I'm aiming for about one hour. It shouldn't be any longer than that and may come in a bit shorter. I'm looking to include a Q & A at the end so the duration could be influenced by how many questions I get! :)

Q: Will the event be repeated?

A: At this stage, no, it's a one-off event. Whether or not it happens again will depend entirely on how well this first one goes and if there is interest for any more! But currently, this will be the only one.

Q: I can't attend on the day. Will I be able to view the webinar at another time?

A: Absolutely! The event will be recorded with the recording available for 7 days after the event finishes. So if you can't attend, you can still access the information.

Q: Where is the event being held?

This will be a purely online/virtual event, done as a webinar. I'm currently finalising the details of where it will be hosted but the link will be made available to attendees prior to the event.

If you have any other questions not listed here, or any other issues, please email me at gday@sarahmgower.com. I'm happy to try and help however I can.
