Event description
FPA Training day: Introduction to Tasmanian Eagles

About this event

Who is this course suited to?

This course is designed as a general introduction to Tasmanian eagle ecology and common issues encountered when considering eagle nest and habitat management. It is suitable for people involved in conservation, environmental planning and land management roles.

What is covered and not covered in this course?

This course is aimed at beginner level and covers basic ecological principles and conservation concerns for Tasmanian eagles. It does not provide legislation and policy training, nor specialist training and accreditation in nest activity assessment.

What to bring?

Participants will need to wear sturdy shoes and bring appropriate clothing for all weather conditions (including rain). Participants will need a helmet and high vis vest if possible (FPA will bring a limited number of spares). Morning and afternoon tea will be provided but participants will need to advise FPA of any dietary requirements when registering for the course. Participants will need to BYO lunch and a drink.

Medical conditions or allergies

This course includes a field trip which may involve exposure to some hazards and risks. The FPA takes these seriously and has a process to identify, assess and mitigate these as much as possible. During the registration process we will ask you if you have any medical conditions or allergies, (e.g. allergy to jack jumpers), which may impact on your ability to participate in the field trip. As with all the other information submitted during registration, this will be treated confidentially and stored in accordance with personal information legislation.
