Introduction to Servant Leadership
Thu. 4 May 2017, 9:30 am – 4:00 pm AEST
Servant Leadership is an organisational culture change methodology that turns conventional hierarchical leadership and management on its head. Servant Leadership is about leaders and managers respecting their people as valuable resources. The role of a servant leader is to “inspire and equip” those that they influence to be able to create a better and more sustainable future for both the organisation and its people. It’s a head shift away from going through the motions of doing the job to earn a salary and keep the boss happy...and it gets results. A systematic review of the literature shows that Servant Leadership is a viable methodology that benefits organisations, leaders and followers.
Servant Leadership has been linked to agile change methodologies and strategies to improve quality, productivity, efficiency, culture and behaviour change, staff engagement and the bottom line etc. It has attracted the interest of leaders from non profits, sport for development, universities, healthcare and government as well as big name companies and multinationals.
