Description

With increasing numbers of people needing scooters, it's more important than ever to be sure that you have the necessary and up-to-date skills and knowledge needed to help your clients.

This workshop is aimed at health professionals, support staff, New Graduate OTs and student OTs who are involved with scooter assessment and prescription, and want to develop their skills, improve their existing knowledge and find out about the latest in scooter technology. It will cover currently available products, what to consider when selecting a scooter, skills required and safety considerations. You will also have the opportunity to get some hands on experience with a variety of scooter models.


Learning Outcomes:

  1. Attendees will be able to discuss the different scooter sizes and their uses

  2. Attendees will be able to discuss and identify assessments currently used to identify clients' ability to use a scooter

  3. Attendees will be able to discuss considerations relating to the safe use of a scooter in regards to road rules

  4. Attendees will be able to demonstrate basic adjustment of a scooter set up


Target Audience: Health professionals, support staff, New Graduate OTs and student OTs.
