Event description

Description

Your trainer for this workshop is Jonathan Garber from Research Platform Services.

This workshop is being held across two evenings:

Part 1: Tuesday the 5th of June from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Part 2: Thursday the 7th of June from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

About this Event:

Python is an open-source programming language with a large online community of researchers. Known for it's versatility and readability, Python is very popular among modern researchers for data mining, manipulation, visualisation and even web design. It has most of the functionality of R and MATLAB, but can also be used to make the next Google if you are so inclined! This workshop aims to give an introduction to the wonders of Python using Jupyter notebooks, aimed at programming beginners.

I can’t teach you everything that Python can do in one day, but what I can do is

a.) introduce the basic concepts, terminology, and syntax behind using Python,

b.) teach you how to google better, and....

c.) help you decipher the programmers who have answered our questions on the web already!

Come along and learn how to work smarter not harder! All you need is your own laptop. No prior programming experience is required.
