Event description

Description

Your host for this workshop is Kahli Flekac, Research Community Coordinator from Research Platforms Services, The University of Melbourne. Bring your own Laptop.

This workshop is being held across 2 days - Tuesday 22nd & Friday 25th August from 10am - 4.30pm each day

About this event

This is a 2 day comprehensive (and free!) workshop that will cover the basics of Python programming, and good programming practice. Whether you're a programming beginner, learning Python for the first time, or just need a bit of a refresher, this is the course for you!

**Participants must bring a laptop and charger** with a Mac, Linux, or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc.) that they have administrative privileges on. You are also asked to install Python, according to the installation instructions here (https://github.com/resbaz/introPython_July2017/blob/master/Python_Installation.md), and to try to familiarise yourself with the Jupyter Notebook Environment before the workshop.

If you're having problems with Python installation and using Jupyter, or would just like some company while doing so, we'll be hosting a couple of installation parties:

1) Hacky Hour on Thursday 10th August, 3-4pm at Tsubu Bar.
2) Monday 14th August, from 12pm-1pm, at CoLab (Room 329, Eastern Resource Centre).

This event is bought to you by Research Platforms Services
