Description

Linocut printmaking is a fun and accessible printing medium. Kimberly Horn from Honeyeater Studio specialises in printmaking and holds degrees in both Fine Art and Education. She returned to linocuts for her creative practise after having a baby, as an easy medium to do from home with little people underfoot.

In this two-part workshop over two dates, you will learn how to design, carve and print linocuts. During the session, you learn about the versatility of linocuts and create a printed greeting card just in time for the festive and giving season.

The workshop is designed for beginners and to demonstrate a minimal set up to create linocut prints from your home.

Workshop 1 (3 hours), Sunday October 15th 12.30-3.30, you will learn:

  • How to plan and design a linocut + basic composition
  • Image transferring
  • Carving techniques + carving safety

Workshop 2 (2 hours), Sunday October 22nd 12.30-2.30 you will learn:

  • Inking + hand-printing
  • Printing on different papers + cards
  • Hand-colouring prints

*All materials are supplied.

What to bring:

  • Ideas and/or images (preferably cropped to 10x15cm) or on the day, you can choose from something from the image library
  • A creative spirit
  • Ready to have fun and maybe a couple Band-Aids

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Brick+Mortar is on George St, just off The Parade in Norwood, behind the Town Hall. There is plenty of on-street 2 hour free parking (but plenty of parking inspectors so beware!), and the open air paid carpark above Foodland (access off Webbe St) has all day parking for only $6. Bus routes run up The Parade regularly and the closest bus stop is just before the Town Hall.

Can I take coffee into my workshop?

Of course! We have a full cafe on the ground floor, so just make sure you arrive in time to order your coffee and you can take it in with you. We don't encourage food in workshops unless catering is included in the ticketing, but you're welcome to have a bite to eat in our cafe before or after your class, we're open 8am-5pm Monday to Saturday and 10-4 Sunday.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

For any questions about the class content please contact Kimberly Horn (kimzahorn@gmail.com). For questions about the venue please call 0452 140 849 or email hello@brickandmortarcreative.com.au.

What's the refund policy?

Tickets are non-refundable, but if you're unable to make it please let us know in case we have a waitlist, or you can always give your ticket to a friend!
