Introduction to instructional design

Instructional designer, educational designer, learning designer... not sure what instructional design is? Then start here!

If you asked 10 people what an instructional designer was and what they do, you'd probably hear 10 different descriptions! Instructional designer, educational designer, learning designer... there are a range of names and tasks that an instructional designer does. With the advent of rapid e-learning tools, the range of tasks your instructional designer might undertake is growing.

So what is instructional design?

In this session, we will explore what instructional design is and why having an understanding of instructional design techniques can help you with your course development - regardless of the method of delivery.

This session covers:

  • What instructional design means
  • Simple instructional design techniques to apply to your course development
  • Resources to explore different instructional techniques
