Event description
This workshop provides an overview of the expectations and processes that apply to graduate research supervision at La Trobe.

About this event

It encompasses a comprehensive range of topics relevant to supervision, including:

  • Information about policy and recent policy updates
  • Candidature management
  • Institutional support for graduate research
  • What a La Trobe thesis looks like
  • Resources and support for candidates

These content areas are supported by interactive and collaborative exercises that provide participants with the opportunity to reflect on their own practice and how this may fit in relation to institutional and disciplinary expectations.

Why should I attend?

Good supervision habits lead to good graduate outcomes, and are usually the product of time and experience. This workshop is designed to address your needs by providing practical information and exercises that will empower you to reflect on your practice and develop your skills further.

Who should attend?

People who register without a University email will not be considered when allocating the tickets. Please make sure that you use a valid La Trobe University email address.

This workshop is intended primarily for academics who are new to graduate supervision, those who are building their supervision experience, and those who may be new to La Trobe and not yet familiar with the university’s processes and expectations around supervision. Experienced supervisors are, however, very welcome to attend, and may find the workshop beneficial in refreshing their supervision practice.
