Event description

Description

Sydney Informatics Hub Research Computing Training Series

Intro to GPU programming with the Artemis HPC

Note: Event location hopefully will change to somewhere closer to main campus.

Synopsis: The University of Sydney's Artemis HPC hosts several NVIDIA V100 GPUs. This course will help you to understand basic concepts of GPU programming. We will learn fundamentals of basic CUDA code, and write and run examples using C/CUDA, Matlab, and Python. You will undertake practical applications in Deep Learning using Python, Tensorflow, and Keras. You will learn how to set up suitable environemnts on Artemis for GPU-enabled applications to run, and how to run and submit jobs on the Artemis HPC GPU queue. We will have around 3 hours of formal work, but will have time to hack around with any specific problems you have.

Target audience: Students and staff who are looking to push their work with GPUs, and wish to run their codes on Artemis.

Essential pre-requisites: A basic understanding of unix, Jupyter notebooks, Python, or some coding experience will be very useful, but not a requirement, this will be very much an 'intodruction'. But join one of our other courses to get prepared. OWN LAPTOP REQUIRED (with an NVIDIA cuda-capable GPU if you have one) we have a few spare, please get in touch early if you wish to borrow one for the day. Notes will be distributed to attendees before the course, we are updating this repository: https://sydney-informatics-hub.github.io/training.artemis.gpu/aio.html
