Event description

Description

Engaging children in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths in early education has profound effects on child brain development and fosters a love of learning.

But how should educators teach STEM in an early years setting? Is it even developmentally appropriate? What about educators who are not confident in their own STEM skills?

Real World Learning will tackle these questions and more in a highly interactive, hands-on workshop.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Understand what STEM is in an early childhood setting

  • Learn the benefits of STEM for young minds

  • Learn how to implement STEM learning for infants and toddlers through daily routines and play!

  • Learn practical strategies to support the development of STEM thinking skills, including the theories of Schemas and Heuristic Play.

  • Explore resources to promote STEM in different environments.

  • Learn how to document STEM learning outcomes

  • This PD links to APST 2.1, 2.2, 2.5, 3.1, 3.3, 3.6, 4.5, 6.2, 6.4 and NQS 1
