Event description

Description

“Meditation is our medicine, our marvellous teacher, our navigator and our protector.”
Venerable Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden

Discover methods to gain a happier and more meaningful life.

Meditation is a profound and fascinating skill with the potential for far reaching benefits that can change our lives. Meditation opens us to the inner world of the mind, and whether we experience happiness or suffering from the events of our lives.

This new series introduces a variety of meditation techniques – breathing, visualisation and analytical meditations.

Drawing from the book Meditations on the Path to Enlightenment, composed by the Society’s founder and spiritual guide, Venerable Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden, the course will explore fundamental Buddhist principles such as cause and effect, impermanence, love, compassion, concentration and the nature of the human mind.

Course teachers:
Rosie McKew studied for many years with the Society’s founder and spiritual guide Venerable Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden. Rosie is a pharmacist who has worked in many different areas of the health.

Venerable Anna Goldstein is a Tibetan Buddhist nun, who also studied for many years with Geshe Loden. Anna’s work life has involved many social issues in fields such as stakeholder engagement, communications and policy development.

Rosie will teach in April and May and Anna will take the June classes.

No introduction class on Mother's Day Sun 12 May or the Queen's Birthday long weekend - 8-10 June.

Details:
Classes are held in our beautiful peaceful Tibetan temple from 1.30 to 3pm. Come along to any class in the series. Class is followed by afternoon tea for those who’d like to stay. Facility charge is $10 with proceeds supporting the temple and gardens.
