About this Event

Designed for those with limited or no experience, this blacksmithing workshop will introduce you to the basics of workshop safety while forging, grinding and heat treating your own kitchen utensil. Instructed by Artist Blacksmith Wayne Schmidt and hosted at HSBNE Inc, this course includes everything you need to take home a unique tool made by you.

Wayne Schmidt of Cracked Anvil Forge has been blacksmithing for over 40 years, using traditional methods and techniques to create forged items for any time in history. He provides live demonstrations and explanations to the public and uses historical equipment and period bellows. Wayne creates bespoke items on request and offers classes for beginners to more advanced blacksmithing enthusiasts.

HSBNE Inc is a volunteer-run community workspace. HSBNE Inc aims to serve the wider community with access to a wide range of interest areas, from electronics and digital fabrication, to arts and crafts, woodworking, metalworking and blacksmithing.

Please wear a long sleeved cotton (or other natural fibre) shirt & trousers or jeans, with enclosed leather shoes. Other safety gear provided, but if you own personal safety glasses/hearing protection/respirators, you're welcome to bring them as well. Please bring your own water bottle & lunch.
