Intro to Entomology

By City of Charles Sturt

Overview

Join us these school holidays for a hands-on introduction to the art of insect taxidermy at the Bower Cottages Community Centre.

In this workshop, participants will learn how to pin and spread a butterfly specimen and will take home their completed piece, along with their pinning board and pins.

This session uses real butterfly specimens that are already deceased. All specimens have been sourced ethically—either raised through breeding programs where they have naturally reached the end of their life cycle, or donated as “unsaleable” specimens in need of repair. While considered “imperfect,” we believe they are still far too beautiful to go to waste.

Please note that frames are not included, but a selection will be available to purchase on the day for anyone who wishes to frame their finished work.

Ages: 8 -16 Years

Cost: $10 plus booking fee

Bookings are essential / Register today.
